At Fidelis, a certified birth certificate translation for USCIS costs $29 for the first page and $25 for each additional page, up to 500 words per page. If your certificate fits on one page, you pay $29. That price includes a certificate of accuracy signed by Jorge Cardona. Notarization is separate (+$30 per order), and you only need it if the receiving office asks for it.
What counts as one page
A standard page holds up to 500 words. We count all the text that needs translating, not just names and dates.
If the full text of your birth certificate stays under 500 words, it’s one page and costs $29. We review the document and confirm the page count before you pay.
When a birth certificate runs longer than one page
The translation has to be complete, so everything with text on it gets translated, even the parts that look minor:
- The back. Many certificates carry stamps, signatures or printed notes on the reverse.
- Marginal notes. Corrections, acknowledgments of paternity or name changes written in the margin.
- An attached apostille or legalization. If the certificate comes with an apostille page, that page is translated too.
When all of that adds up to more than 500 words, the certificate becomes two pages: $54 total ($29 + $25). Three pages come to $79.
To get the count right, send us both sides of the certificate and the apostille page, if there is one. If there are handwritten notes in the margin, add a close-up photo.
Price examples
| Order | Pages | Total |
|---|---|---|
| One one-page birth certificate | 1 | $29 |
| One certificate with a back side, notes and an apostille | 2 | $54 |
| Two one-page certificates (for example, you and your child) | 2 | $54 |
| One one-page certificate, notarized | 1 | $59 |
| Two one-page certificates, notarized | 2 | $84 |
Additional pages cost $25 even when they come from a different document in the same order. Notarization is charged once per order.
When you need notarization
USCIS doesn’t ask for notarized translations. The rule is 8 CFR § 103.2(b)(3). It calls for a full English translation that the translator certifies as complete and accurate, plus the translator’s statement that they’re competent to translate. It doesn’t mention a notary.
Other offices may ask for it, such as a court or a consulate. In that case, a Florida notary public notarizes the translation for $30 per order, not per page. A notarized translation takes 1 business day.
Before you pay for notarization, check with the office that will receive the document. Our article on certified vs. notarized translations explains the difference.
Do I need a sworn translator?
Many people search for a “sworn translator” because that’s what their home country uses. In Spain, for example, sworn translators get their title from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Their translations carry official weight before that country’s courts and government offices. It’s a demanding credential, and it matters there.
USCIS doesn’t require one. The regulation doesn’t ask for a sworn translator. It asks the translator to sign a statement that they’re competent and that the translation is complete and accurate.
Jorge Cardona isn’t a sworn translator. He translates and signs every certificate of accuracy, and every translation gets a double review and verification before delivery. If a process in another country calls for a sworn translation, a Fidelis translation won’t cover that step. You’ll need a sworn translator recognized by that country.
How long it takes
Certified translations of up to 3 pages in 3 hours. Orders from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Eastern Time), every day. The 3 hours start once you pay and send a legible photo; outside those hours, they start at 8 a.m.
If we don’t deliver in 3 hours, you get your money back. You receive a PDF with the signed certificate, the translation and a copy of the original, ready to upload to your USCIS account or print.
Notarized translation: 1 business day. More than 3 pages: the timeline is confirmed with your quote.
What doesn’t change the price
Some agencies charge by the word or add a rush fee. At Fidelis the price is per page, and these things don’t change it:
- The 3-hour delivery. It’s included. There’s no rush fee and no discount for waiting longer.
- The form. The price is the same for the I-130, the I-485 or the N-400, and one translation works for any of them.
- Whose certificate it is. If you send several certificates in one order, every page after the first costs $25.
